Audio Head to Head, who is scaremongering?

for Michael Bevington Head of Classics at Stowe school debating with professor Fox of Essex University on reality of electro-sensitivity on Radio 4 Today programme on October 6th.

Michael is one of the hundreds of electro-sensitives who turned to us at ES-UK . I helped him in his understanding of what was happening to him. He was the fastest learner I ever dealt with and was supplying us with information within weeks, most usefully how he was dealing with it. As usual chiefly by avoidance, and a co-operative head who removed the WiFi from his classrooms.

Many who feel oddly unwell are unable to make the link, as he successfully did, with a subtle, or as in his case sometimes quite violent, change in their local electrosphere where they spend considerable time.

Still a beginner

Is this a diary, a monologue for no-one or what the heck?
Its what I make of it.
This morning - half-term - teenage girls so what to do?

Ah-ha, the exhibition is in town, the Art and life.

Dear old Syd, why is he that? It used to be Syd Barret the Crazy Diamond who wacked up and left the Floyd, upped the ante over the edge and crashed and burned. Who was the Greek? The winged god in mythology who flew too close to the Sun? Ah, Icarus, he got disrespectful, and scorched his wings? Don't diss the big man baby, you are a flea.

Syd to me was always after the mad youthful MORE, do it, excess, try it, more of it, higher, where does it go and how far can we get? And he went for more for himself and all of us, chaaaarge!! Swinging a friendly peaceful axe into the thorny bush and undergrowth of post-war timorous conventionality and sterile temerity, the bowler-hatted and flat-capped staid staleness of pre-sixties Britain.

Oh yeah, all of us who were there, and dropping acid over the dope in that fine dawn, along with the Piper at the Gates and the Stellar Overdrive. Cosmic.
And now he is gone, and some of us are still here, without his questing.
And how on earth can I introduce my teenage daughters to the meaning of this man, his rise to some highest place of mind expansion, psychedelic blast, into atmospheres too thin to sustain a mind.
"No rules" Syd said, anarchy, but there are in nature and even within bands and pushed too far things become disorganised, break down, no order = derangement, and isolation from common humanity's common understanding. What do I know? We smoked joints off the same lump of hash maybe, but his space was miles away from mine, spinning out there while we drew back from overdrive.

Somehow though, in the garden with the clothes line or borrowing his bike with bells and rings and pretty things to make it look good, we met and melded in Astronomy Domine as he did in the same special way with so many others.

Looking forward to meeting him today:

Long live Syd. Ha, its not even his name!

Break

Now I must try to help this poor lady Yvonne, disbelieved, treated as mad because she was unable to articulate her sickness was due to the unregulated low-level radiation she was so unfortuately extra-sensitive to. Institutionalised for years as crazy too, now so thoroughly damaged I wonder how she can go on, or if she will for much longer.
And what can I do? So little it makes ESGuru a bad joke.

The Ultimate Question

Why am I here?

From this question, for me, follow all the others. Most urgently, what should I be doing? NOW.

A double answer follows that.

We should all be doing what we feel good about, which means we must find some pleasure in it, satisfaction, growth and achievment. We can enjoy what we do, and we will then want to get on with it and may do it well. No point in half doing anything. What we do must have meaning for us, value.

As social animals that seems to me to mean doing what is valued by at least some others, those who understand what you are about. You cannot please everyone, some may appreciate your efforts later, some may denigrate your activities, but meanwhile share and press on.

If you are lucky, and what you do is sufficiently valued, then there will be people and organisations prepared to pay you to do it, great. But some important, necessary work, slips through the cracks of how our society and much of the world is now organised. Overwhelming weight is presently placed on 'the market' and the commercialisation of most activities. It can be necessary to go 'against the grain' of these pressures.

All who have ever worked with wood will know this throws up real difficulties, with saw or chisel following an unwanted path. In the real world those with an independent income, who can still be bothered, may sidestep the earthy fact you need income to survive, eat, sleep warm, and care for dependents and so on. Most of us cannot but need to be intensely careful about our compromising, our accomodating to the grain of the hard world, or out goes baby with the bathwater.

It can be a difficult balancing act, but if you persist with what you do not feel is worthwhile in your heart, you are tossing your life away as just a means to an end, some one else's end, when it is your ends that matter, that is the end in itself. To a great degree, you are what you do, you define yourself in your actions and become the fruit of your own potential.

Glorious words and sentiments eh!?

But they can all too often lead you to penury, derision and disillusion. For every successful achiever in any field a bunch of unlucky failures may be moodily sour at life's tricks.

Well then for myself it is the old song about "pick yourself up, dust yourself down and start all over again." Get pissed first perhaps too, that can briefly help with the hurt.

So now I find I AM AN ATHEIST ON A MISSION FROM GOD.

One day I will get around to explaing that paradox, if you ever saw 'The Blues Brothers' film you might have an insight, good luck with it.

My purpose is to defy all those who claim there are no health implications from certain widely used and extremely popular electromagnetic radiofrequency technologies and wizard gadgetry. I am not alone in this rather unpopular, unpaid, and much derided crusade. We have intensive scientific backing, much truth few bucks.

Crusade? Well according to my internet dictionary, the third meaning, and leaving religion out of it, is:

“any vigorous, aggressive movement for the defense or advancement of an idea, cause, etc.: eg. a crusade against child abuse”.
